OT: nextcloud for ubuntu?

Dave -

Nextcloud only provides the source for their client with Linux
distributions. Some Linux distributions have packaged it on their own, but
unfortunately, there's no pre-built packages yet for
Ubuntu/Debian/Mint/elementary/etc.

At this point in time, my understanding is the only difference between the
ownCloud client and the Nextcloud client is artwork and branding.
Fundamentally they are still (from what I've heard) identical on a
technical level.

Into the future this will likely change. I hope by then pre-built packages
will become available for Ubuntu (and other) distributions.

I have been using the ownCloud client with my own Nextcloud server for some
time without issue. To make things more interesting, my ownCloud client is
actually interfacing with an ownCloud server as well as a Nextcloud server
(they each point to a different sync folder). No issues to speak of.

Hope this helps.
