Accessing a DOS computer via a network

I just had a PC die that was using an ISA slot for the network card.
All of my other computers have 32 bit slots only. My network was a
daisy chained RG-58 coax network. It has worked flawlessly for a couple
of decades. Peer to peer DOS only.
Using an integrated RJ-45 type network, going to a router, then to a
Linux computer, or another DOS computer, how do I set up the 2
computers? Any step by step instructions as opposed to generalized
text? If I should rtfm, which one?
Tia,
John
