and you should disable root login and users like admin eg, 
to make it harder for skript kiddies.

if you use obfuscation techniques eg non standard port, be aware that
you are only protected from kiddies and not a personalized hack!

disable password only, eg setup a authentification setting to combine
2FA ( google-authenticator) and password / better public key
