I have installed the latest 5.1 virtual box with the extension pack.
With both the original and the new machine I created the usb settings
window is greyed out in the top area not allowing me to change the
settings, in the old machine it is set to usb 2. The list of devices
shown are those that were connected when the virtualbox was last
shutdown in Ubuntu 14.04. If I try to add a new device it says no
devices available. None of the devices work in the virtual machine.
However all of the devices are available at the Ubuntu level.
Withe the new machine the usb settings are greyed out and the usb is set
to 1.1. I cannot add any device.
There is obviously a disconnect between the physical usb ports and the
virtual boxes.
In the old machine windows internet explorer cannot access the
internet, but a program i use for FreeBMD transcriptions has no problem
in uploading files.
I feel I must have missed an obvious step, but I followed the install
instructions for 5.1 to the letter and I installed the extension pack.
Has anyone else had trouble in getting USB ports to work?

Peter
