It does not arrive here with that space, Ralf and it didn't arrive here 
in your quoted string above either.  Its a newline immediately following 
the second dash.  So its getting stripped someplace in the ? miles from 
there to here.  FWIW, your's was not stripped.  Its fine.

Weird.
