oops, yes, i was not clear enough ... you want all the versioned
packages set to auto, not the meta itself ...
ogra at anubis:~$ apt-mark showauto|grep ^linux-
linux-base
linux-headers-4.4.0-31
linux-headers-4.4.0-31-generic
linux-image-4.4.0-31-generic
linux-image-extra-4.4.0-31-generic
ogra at anubis:~$ apt-mark showmanual|grep ^linux-
linux-firmware
linux-generic
linux-headers-genericc
linux-image-generic
linux-libc-dev
linux-sound-base
as you can see the 4.4 kernel is set to auto and will be fed to
autoremove as soon as nothing depends on it any more (i.e. if linux-
generic switches its dependency to 4.6 or whatever)
