You're right and this is also true for grub.cfg.

My thought were miles away. I was thinking of all the commands Richard
posted.

So, indeed posting the output of text files should be done as Nils
suggested. Just redirecting the output of some commands makes sense,
e.g.

  dpkg --some-option > /tmp/dpkg.txt
