New Laptop Advice

I have been asked by our local librarian to spec out a new laptop for use at
our library. The library currently runs a 100% Linux shop: a CentOS 6.7
server, 10 diskless (64-bit) workstations running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (7 public
access, 3 for staff), and three *little* (older) laptops/notebooks for patron
use also running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Our librarian would like to get one new,
larger laptop and I would like to keep things consistent (same user experience
across all of the machines), so I would want to put Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on it. So
I am looking for a laptop that will work with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS out-of-the-box.
I have not put much effort trying to follow the new computer market -- I have
only ever bought used / referbished laptops, generally older models, and have
only been building my desktops from scratch (eg fun ordering stuff from
NewEgg, etc.). So, I am looking for suggestions. We need something solid and
reliable. It does not need to be top of the line or anything. It will mostly
be used for things like web surfing and emailing.
