Thank you for that.
This is, I believe, one of the problems when organisations do not
communicate with users and the public, via mailing lists, but instead,
shut out everyone who does not use "social media"; we are kept in the
dark; both in knowing what is happening, and, in discussing any
issues.
Perhaps, it is time for the ubuntu-mate people to implement the use of
mailing lists, for involving users, instead of restricting involvement
to users of "social media".
