[QUOTE=James Darvell of linuxjournal.com]

It's still very unlikely that Canonical would sell out to Microsoft
given the company's founding principles. Canonical is essentially a
personal project of an eccentric millionaire, who has made a big point
of publicly standing against Microsoft's PC monopoly. Selling
Canonical to Microsoft would ***DESTROY HIS REPUTATION*** forever in
the Linux community.

Of course, everyone likes money, especially millionaires, and
Microsoft has enough money to make anyone think twice. If Mark
Shuttleworth sold Canonical, he might be able to afford more space
vacations, but it's unlikely the Linux community would let him return
to Earth.

Hmmmmmm, Microsoft has enough money to make anyone think twice. How
much money does Microsoft have? Well, Mr. Hugh Kwan, an instructor
from the Singapore Institute of Retail Studies, recently told me that
Singapore is the 4th richest country in the entire world. According to
an analysis by the Global Finance Magazine, and based on data from the
International Monetary Fund, Singapore is the third richest country in
the entire world based on GDP per capita. If my memory did not serve
me wrong, Mr. Tan Jee Say, 2011 Singapore Presidential Election
Candidate and former Principal Private Secretary to former Singapore
Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, once estimated Singapore's Sovereign
Wealth Fund to be at least $3.2 TRILLION dollars.
