oh, and as others noted already the only way for you would be to go the
path via 13.04->13.10->14.04, so probably doing a backup and
reinstalling 14.04 from scratch will be faster and safer.

also note that usually you would always use do-release-update or
update-manager as this is the only properly tested and thus supported
way to do a release to release upgrade.

if you hack the sources.list and use apt you will likely face breakage
and end up with a different setup than a proper do-release-upgrade will
give you.
