I assume that you are talking about the screen that is seen after you
login, or after the boot completes if you are automatically logging
in. The confusion here is that this screen is the "Desktop", and it
seems that the screen you are talking about is the file explorer
Thunar. It is also possible to see the Desktop in Thunar as in fact
it is just a folder. In Thunar the view of this folder will be will
be rather different but the files should be the same ones.
