"Xfce desktop" likely is "Thunar". If you open "Xfce desktop" is there
a menu "Help > About"?

If so, am I right that it says "Thunar"?

The issue you describe leads to an icon theme issue. This has got
absolutely nothing to do with the graphics, it's driver, the kernel,
printing.
