I forgot to mention

sudo zless var/log/apt/term.log.1.gz


$ sudo zcat /var/log/apt/term.log.1.gz | tail

or  | head  etc. makes more sense than  | grep  ;), I just wanted point
out that there is the zcat command that can pipe to another command to
filter output.
