What are you saying - is the card working while the system boots, the
screen goes black, and then the login screen appears after a while? Or
does it not work at all while the system boots until X starts?

It could be that some process is hanging, and prevents X from starting
until it is finished or timed out. You can run "systemd-analyze blame"
to see how long the various tasks take to start up, maybe one of them
stands out.

If that isn't it, you could check the various logs, especially
boot.log, dmesg and Xorg.0.log and see if there are any tell-tale signs
of trouble there.

Also, what driver are you using?

You need to provide a lot more information for us to figure this out.
