have to update on a regular basis...why?

Thufir i just use a command like thus on a fairly regular basis:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
&& sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get autoclean && exit
overkill - possibly :)
