A modern SSD running on a modern computer is much faster, uses less power,
is more reliable, and produces less heat than any 10,000 rpm drive. For a
long time, Ubuntu/Linux has worked with any brand available that supports
SATAII, or SATAIII, or mSATA, or M.2.

The market is so large that now there are cheap brands/models of SSD, and
there are models that cost a little more but are very reliable, there are
SSDs that are high-end and cost a fair amount, and then there are enterprise
versions that you could not afford.

But it is nice that prices are steadily dropping for SSDs, and computers in
general.

Welcome to the future, my friend.
