HP 1020 Printer issue

Some strange entries in my syslog pertaining to my printer

the current kernel is 3.13.0-46-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 2
18:23:39 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux, seems like the printer
will not initialize during the boot process as it used to in previous
kernel versions. As shown below in my sig this is Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS.
Any ideas?
