Hi there,
what does domain and search in resolv.conf mean?
Who / what process is changing it?
The reason for my question is the following:
I have a raspberry attached to the same cable router as my ubuntu box.
on the raspberry the name resolution does NOT work and it has the following
entries:
nameserver 195.186.152.33
nameserver 195.186.216.33
domain v.cablecom.net
search v.cablecom.net
removing
domain v.cablecom.net
search v.cablecom.net
solves the name resolution.
on the ubuntu box I have:
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 127.0.1.1
search v.cablecom.net
acording to this content, it is written by resolvconf.
however resolvconf seems not to ecist on the raspi
thanks
robert
