ISO came from
"http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-desktop-next/daily-live/current/wily-desktop-i386.iso"

Not yet, as it can take some time to run from USB, I set it to boot (Laptop &
Desktop) and made a cup of tea

On the Desktop PC, the screen is flat maron/purple that is seen in most live
distros before a wallpaper is set/added, no launcher plus a small box asking
for password

On the Laptop PC, the same screen, but a large circle (of dots) to the right of
the password box like a clock without hands, the dot to left of top centre is
larger (just) than the rest, there are maybe three empty launcher icons that
fall of left of screen, and a box with a (moving) red arrow and a grey arrow
plus text saying swipe for launcher (or similar text)

I've just remade the USB and will try again on both PCs
