Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions.  After doing some Google searches, it looks 
like the table structure is stored in the .frm files but not the actual 
data.  I read about a long, involved process to recover some data, but 
ultimately it looked like more trouble than it was worth with little 
benefit.  I fortunately remembered a backup of the original database in 
question, so I restored that.  Unfortunately, it was from April, so I had to 
reconfigure a lot of things, but things seem to be back up and running, more 
or less.  I have again been reminded of why it's good to make backups often, 
so I'll set up a daily cron job to do that in the future.
