1. As GIMP is supported by Ubuntu / Cannonical:
         Why is the the application package at version 2.8.10 while all 
the help packages at version 2.6.1?

2. As LibreOffice is not only supported by Ubuntu / Cannonical but is 
also the default install office package:
         Why is the only version available version 4.2.8?

         The following was posted to the "LibreOffice users mailing 
list" on '15 June 23

                 "…4.2.x is already end-of-life, and 4.3.x (current 
"stable" production versions) will also soon be end-of-life.

                 LibreOffice 4.4.x is considered the current "stable" 
version, although it still has many RTL bugs."
