Still screwing with HP1020

I'm in this post late so I wondered - what distro are you using exactly?

Also what is the desktop/laptop you are using, what's the CPU? So I can
get an idea how old it is? Seems maybe old boxes with slow cpu and only
USB 1.0 have a lot of slowness printing...maybe.

Does the printer work in an MS OS like XP or Win7 - you might have to
download a driver from HP for MS products? Some of these printers were
designed for MS Windows, not tested with Linux.

I had trouble with an HP 1022 on purely Debian based distros, and then I
tried it with Xubuntu (did not try w/Ubuntu but assume same as Xubuntu)
and Xubuntu sensed the printer model at first boot after the install,
and specifically stated it was downloading additional drivers and
support for that printer and it works OK with Xubuntu. I slaved for
weeks trying to get it to work with Debian based distro with no luck.
But Xubuntu "knew what the deal was". Just my experience.
