problem upgrading 13.04 to 14.04

I'm not sure what your sed command should do and where you get the
"restricted" message. Maybe you should edit the sources.list file
manually e.g. using nano and make sure that the lines look like
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring main restricted multiverse universe
I have just checked, that this line does work. And of course you would
have a similar line for raring-updates etc.
And for the update from saucy to trusty you would use the normal
archive.ubuntu.com address.
