Interesting.... the last comment ties it up - problem apparently fixed
in gedit 3.8+. I have 3.4.1 in 12.04, so way behind. A few workarounds
were mentioned, but often cause side effects. :-) Doesn't seem easy to
fix reasonably well.
For now, maybe I'll just use geany instead [I'm getting to like that
quite well.]
