Get back safe to remove message

With ubuntu 12.04 LTS when you unmounted a usb flash drive 
it gave you a message telling you when it was safe to 
remove. With 14.04 LTS in nautilus you do not get the 
message. I am having trouble with people unmounting  flash 
drives think they are ready to remove but they aren't so 
then you have to reboot to clean up the file system. Is 
there anyway to get back the message so users no when it is 
safe tor remove a flash drive or is there a better choice 
for a file manager that will clearly show users when it is 
safe to remove the flash drive?
