Discussion has occurred regarding the isssue of upgrading from an LTS
release, to a "normal" (?) release; 14.04 LTS to 15.04.

I am wondering, as the current "normal" (?) release is 15.04, then, in
a couple of months time, 15.10 is due to be released, then, in April
next year, 16.04 LTS is due to be released.

What I am wondering, is, can a "normal" (?) release (eg 15.04) be
upgraded to an LTS release (16.04 LTS, when it is released), by simply
using the "do-release-upgrade", or, in the Software Updater, choosing
to update the version, from 15.04, to 16.04 LTS?

In this, I have Ubuntu-mate 15.04 installed, and, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
(with the mate desktop environment), and I am wondering whether, when
the time comes, simply updating the version (from 15.04 to 16.04 LTS),
would be appropriate, or, whether I would be better to perform a clean
installation (I have a free, unused partition, into which I can
install an operating system).

Thank you in anticipation.
