The theory of upgrading from 14.04 to 15.04 using /etc/apt/sources.list

Btw. I even wouldn't do it in a VM I would backup the complete install
(resp. I anyway have backups) and update the real install.

It's also possible to copy the install and multi-boot, IOW just to
update one install of the 2 identical installs.
