Ubuntu-mate 1504 incompatibility with Celeron CPU

Judging from the narrative on the amount of time spent trying to get an
obsolete processor to run a current operating system IMHO it would be time
to either lock the system at a level that it will actually function,
instead of constantly having to struggle to get something not designed to
run on obsolete hardware to function reliably.
The other alternative is to toss the Celeron Process or and replace it with
a socket compatible processor with adequate power to do what you are trying
to do.
The Celeron processor line is intended for BUDGET consumer grade products.
As such it lacks many of the features and capabilities of the mid-range and
high end processors in the same design series.
It should be possible to obtain a suitable replacement at minimal cost from
e-bay, including a small tube of heat-sink compound. $10 to $12 [US] plus
shipping should do it and you won't be dealing with all the sturm and drang
and time spent in repeated iterations of the same task.
Your time ~is~ worth something isn't it?
If you have never replaced a processor, it isn't a hard process it just
requires a steady hand and attention to detail. There are many tutorial
videos available to show you exactly how it is done.
The number one thing to remember is Don't Try To Force Things. The parts
should go together easily and if they don't then they aren't oriented
correctly or you aren't following the instructions from the tutorial.
Good Luck
