Please file bugs about your problems at <https://bugs.kde.org>. While
you won't get an immediate fix, it helps to resolve the problems for
future Kubuntu versions.

Either this

kate:
  Installed: 4:14.12.3-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 4:14.12.3-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 4:14.12.3-0ubuntu2 0
        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64

or the equivalent version for i386. But the version displayed at Help ->
About Kate is "5.0.0 using KDE Frameworks 5.9.0".

I don't think you can downgrade to a previous version of kate due to
dependencies. Usually core components of KDE can't be replaced by an
older version. But at least you can try. Look at
<http://packages.ubuntu.com> for the packages of the version you want to
install and also for the dependencies. And be very careful when
installing those packages - otherwise it may remove the entire KDE
environment leaving you without a desktop.
