Applications for layout of rooms/furniture

I'm looking for an application where I can draw a room and contents by
scale, and move things around to try different layouts. I found
something called "Sweet Home 3D" in the Software Center, but it's Java,
and I have a somewhat strained relationship with Java and would
*strongly* prefer not having to install it.

Does anyone know of any alternatives that work well on Ubuntu? Are
there any generic vector editors that might be good for this?
