I also tried
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/EasyBCD.shtml. Now I
get a boot menu with ubuntu but it will not load. Error message reads

windows failed to start .... efit/ubuntu/shimx64.efi

the application or operating system being loaded is missing a file.

I also enabled legacy support in bios , that did not help. I disabled
legacy again, did not help.

I can run windows just fine through the boot loader so I have not totally
screwed things up.

As an alternative I would wipe windows and just use Ubuntu. So if anyone
has instructions they recommend.

thanks

garyk
