Previous version of what? What has this got to do with it not
accepting your password?

What option? Do you mean this problem has been going on for over a
year? If so how have you been logging on if it does not accept your
password, or are you describing two problems, one of which is old and
one is new.

I am sure such drastic measures will not be required.
Please explain more carefully what is happening. Also tell us which
version of ubuntu you are using.
