Guys perhaps I can help. I have Linux mint installed on me laptop which is version 14.04. It is not Ubuntu but if I have to, I will install it. 

All I need you guys to do is me run through the process of installing a working virtualbox. Then we can see what areas our friend need to fix. I am willing to help.

Thanks Karl.  At least I wasn't a patient in the asylum.  But with stuff 
like that shuffled into the mix, I think its up to someone using that same 
release to help this one sort his basket of rattlesnakes.
