I don't know why one would have to install additional stuff it it
worked until a few days ago, something must have happened to change
that. Did you install any updates?
At the router does the led by the connector light up when you plug the
lead in (assuming it has an led)?
What do you see in the dropdown when you click on the network icon in
the top bar (and what does the icon look like)?
