I have 1404 on a HP 210g (new computer) I was able to connect via the
ethernet cable until a few days ago. The connect works on my wife's W8
machine. I can connect to the internet via wireless.

This machine has a Realtek Gigabit network Connection (10/100/1000 NIC) but
Additional Hardware does not find any proprietary hardware, which I think
this is.

sudo lshw -C Network
