DVD burn not seen

Well, the cd/dvd devices have not been in fstab for many years.

That line tells us that the dvd is found at /dev/sr1 which is not 
necessarily wrong, but it may be the reason why it isn't found. Usually 
the device is /dev/sr0 if you only have one of them. Probably the 
program you use for burning dvds is setup to look at /dev/sr0 and it 
doesn't look at /dev/sr1. I can't tell you why the device name is 
changed though.
