Terminal crashing

Please verify that you are using gnome-terminal and tell us the version
number, also try using xterm and see if that crashes too
If it does, try running:
( exit 1 )
If that exits the terminal, check your bashrc and profile scripts for a
line that looks like this
set -e
It's a common prank that makes bash exit after any failed command
