[1] open gedit ( or any other text editors of your choice ) and insert 
the following

msgid "Ubuntu Desktop"
msgsrt "Mac OS X"

[2] Save that file wherever you like with the ".po" extension ( most 
probably ~/desk.po )

[3] Open up terminal and execute following commands turn by turn

     cd /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES
     sudo msgfmt -o unity.mo ~/desk.po

[4] Log out and log back in and that string should have changed
