Running Ubuntu on Lenovo Laptops

I doubt you'll have any troubles. I will make two points, just for your
consideration:
First, the next LTS release of Ubuntu, 14.04, will be released next
month. Since the current stable release, 13.10, only has 4 months of
support left you might do well to wait for the 14.04 release (which will
have 5 years of support).
Second, especially for the lower-end laptops you might consider using
one of the lighter-weight variants of Ubuntu such as Xubuntu:
