Not all the world has fast broadband. Not all of this country alone
has broadband at all.
Also, some people, such as (former?) listmember Ric Moore, who lives
in an urban area of the USA, is on satellite-dish broadband and can
only download a few gig a month or will pay massive penalty fees.
Another listmember, in NZ, is on dialup because he is an area with no
broadband at all.
In other words, don't be so provincial! Yes, it matters!
Also, you entirely ignore my point about adding a 2nd office suite.
Many users would not know how to handle things like changed
associations.

Again, you miss my point. The point is not getting MS to fix them. The
point is avoiding the use of proprietary formats not all PCs can
handle.
