32-bit vs 64-bit

Hello,

I have a similar setup: Also a PC from with preinstalled windows
bought.
I repartitioned such that win does no more use all the space on the
hd. On the now free space I installed linux (in my case a ubuntu
distro) and configured grub such that I can choose which operating
system shall be started on power up.

Sometimes it is "nice" to have a backup solution if you need to run
a pure win program that can be run neither under Wine nor using
virtualisation. In this case I just start up the win installation.

If the win version was sold together with the PC the numbers should
match. Otherwise you might get problems as your version seems to be
not corectly registered. You have the installation dvd/cd and the
nescessary codes for installation? Then I would consider
reinstalling win first (!) and then ubuntu. This has the benefit,
that you can easily keep some space free on the hd.

Hope this helps
