I may have said this before, but I'll say it again anyway.  Snowlinux is 
Ubuntu (or Debian if you prefer) with Mate desktop as the default. Or 
you can pick of of the other default desktop downloads (XFCE, E17, 
Cinnamon in beta). I run it on one of my laptops.  Works as advertised.
