maybe you used a PPA, or maybe the system somehow changed, be sure that
this is not the problem by running the Live CD of Ubuntu and testing
whether there templates work or not

Just found yet another thing that doesn't work in Ubuntu 14.04, but
worked perfectly well with Ubuntu 12.04:

1. Create a folder somewhere, for instance ~/Templates
2. Copy some different files to that folder, such as an empty
spreadsheet and more.
3. Make sure the following line exists in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs:
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/Templates/"
4. I suppose you are then supposed to logout and log back in again.
5. Open Nautilus.
6. Right click inside a folder that you are allowed to use, then click
â??Create a new documentâ??.
7. In my case, only â??Empty documentâ?? is available. In Ubuntu 12.04
all my files in ~/Templates were present.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Best regards

Johnny Rosenberg
