You seem to be having some problem with email threading as well; this
appeared as a new message, not a reply.
Blue connectors normally means SVGA, which is an analogue connection
designed for a CRT screen. You have an LCD flatscreen by the sound of
it.
For what it's worth, if you have the option, a DVI cable will give a
clearer sharper picture and also sort out the resolution-detection
issues.
