Like that, it uses hard links to reduce the amount of network traffic
and storage required. It also has a useful scriptable expiry system, so
you can specify how long each backup lasts.
It backs up to a disk, of course - at work we then use amanda to back up
the dirvish server to tape for offsite storage. Dirvish helps in this
case to vastly reduce the load on the network, since it's only backing
up incremental changes across the network, while the tapes get
everything (or at least everything we want).
