annoying problem in 12.04

Thanks but it didn't show any errors. I have tried xkill and 'lightdm 
restart' but both didn't do anything (I did it from within ssh on 
another system(tablet)). Even shutdown didn't work. It stopped where it 
said:
"restarting now.." and then the whole system was unresponsive.
Anybody has ideas?
