Copying Data To USB Flash Drive

Thanks.
When I say "absurdly long", I mean Nautilus tells me it's finished. Then Ubuntu says no, without any sort of progress.
So it's just a bit frustrating as writing files to my drive is the last thing I do before leaving. I have to sit there an unspecified amount of time without even a progress bar to keep me entertained.
Thanks for the explanation though.
