Hello all,
I own a few HP notebooks that are Ubuntu only machine. Among which
there is a 6c95dx, 2 HP 7243CL and one HP 7373CA.
Installing Ubuntu on those systems was a no brainer.
I have, for instance, on the 7243CL which is also an i7 the Legacy
Support option on the BIOS as enabled, no secure boot and I have done
the following as my partitions:
UEFI scheme: FAT32 /boot/efi with boot flag, ext4 and swap.
On the Envy Touchsmart M7-J020DX it has been a complete nightmare!
I have tried to create and remove partitions with SystemRescue CD.
I have tried the UEFI partition scheme, 200mb of /boot/efi FAT32, the
ext4 and swap. The computer does not boot.
Tried the legacy version which is 1mb for grub, ext4 and swap. No boot.
Then I have tried to erase all partitions and create a new partition
table with System Rescue CD. The install locks on both EFI and legacy
modes.
Then tried to create the partitions with System Rescue CD and again
the Ubuntu install does not work.
The system has 16GB of Ram, it is an i7, and has a 1TB drive.
This has been an absolute nightmare. Have been installing and using
Linux since 1993 and this should be another standard install but I
cannot move anywhere with it.
Yes, I am very familiar with the EFI Ubuntu install doc but I am not
sure why this system is not cooperating.
I would love that HP would be able to sell those systems Windows free already.
Oh, and yes, I did clear all Secure Boot keys from it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Carlos.
