Well I have yet to find any and that's exactly what I was asking for! 

The above link details how to scan for WiFi from the command line and,
yes, iwlist does help somewhat but it's a very clumsy tool when there's
lots of WiFi networks out there because of the verbosity of its output.
It was using iwlist that made me ask this specific question simply
because its output was so difficult to use.
